Chai Tea (चाय): Indian Ginger Tea / Adrak wali Chai / Lemon Grass Tea / Gavati Chaha

A popular drink in India, It's not only good to taste but has medicinal benefits for sore throat and any kind of cough or cold.This is a boiled concoction of water, milk, sugar, tea powder and lemon grass.Lemon grass will enhance the taste and also it has antioxidant properties too. I like to make a steaming cup of Chai every morning.  Ours is a lighter version of  “masala chai” (spiced tea), you can add cardomoms and cloves too.Everyday in indian housdehold they make Chai with ginger.Did you have your Chai today?!

Ingredients

  • For 2 cups of Chai / Tea
  • 300 Ml Milk
  • 250 Ml Water
  • 2 tsp Tea powder
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp chopped Lemon grass
  • 1 tsp Grated Ginger

Method

  1. Boil Water for 2 minutes.
  2. Add Lemon grass and grated ginger,Simmer for 2 minutes.
  3. Add Sugar and Tea powder.
  4. Boil for 5 minutes.
  5. Add Milk and let it bubble on medium heat for 5 minutes.
  6. Strain and serve hot!
