Pepper Chicken
Among the popular Indian recipes like Butter Chicken and Tandoori chicken, Pepper Chicken also stands out!This is my favorite starter to cook when friends are over.This is also called Murgh Kalimirch/Andra style Pepper Chicken/Kerala Pepper Chicken or Pepper roast.This is super quick recipe and very tasty too best to eat with chapati and roti or as a side dish to dal rice combo or Rasam rice combo. It can be made as both dry and gravy based variant version but this is a dry version.
Ingredients:
- Chicken – 300 gms
- Oil –2 tbsp
- Onion (shallots/Sambar onions) –4 sliced thinly
- Green Chilli – 3 slit
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Garlic crushed- 8
- Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
- Mint Leaves - 2 tbsp
- Fresh Ground Pepper – 2 tblspn
- Lemon Juice to taste
- Salt to taste
- Coriander Leaves for garnishing
Marination
Marinate chicken with salt and Turmeric powder 15 mins.Method:
1. Heat oil in a pan. Add in curry leaves, green chillies, crushed garlic and onions. Saute for 5 to 10 mins till it turns light golden.2. Now add chicken saute for a min.
3. Add Salt and mix well.
4. Now pepper powder and toss well .
5. Add chopped mint leaves , cover and cook for 20 minutes. *Don't add water.
6. Garnish with coriander leaves and mix well.Squeeze in some lemon juice.
7. Serve with rice or any bread.
